“The Paso Robles Inn’s Steakhouse Offers Healthy Meals”

By Sandy Zimmerman

(Photos by Sandy Zimmerman)

Paso Robles attracts visitors as central California’s wine country getaway. They boast of having over 270 wineries within a 15-mile radius and 400 within 100-miles. Wine tasting is available at many restaurants, cocktail lounges and wineries.

Paso Robles’ charming historic downtown is reminiscent of “small-town America”.  Visit the Paso Robles Inn’s historic buildings and see the murals in the lobby.

Kevin Highland, General Manager/ Food and Beverage Director of the Steakhouse Restaurant, discussed the Paso Robles Inn’s menu.

“Our Santa Maria barbeque consists of a 10-ounce tritip steak, ranch beans, grilled garlic bread and salsa. Santa Maria-style barbeque is a part of the local lifestyle. Since this is an agricultural area, every Saturday the nearby town of Santa Maria offers street barbeque, family style.

Another favorite originating in the Santa Maria valley, the 10-ounce bites of tritip steak appetizer. The cook prepares the steak bites in large cubes skewered on large toothpicks. The steak bites are in the top sirloin family and originated in the Santa Maria valley.

We serve USDA Choice Midwestern beef 100% corn-fed to heighten its tenderness with marbling to intensify the flavor. All beef is aged on the property and hand cut by the chef.

The menu appeals to everyone and includes more than just steaks.

Even our comfort food is different. The chef folds the macaroni and cheese with Australian lobster, truffles and white truffle oil topped with parmesan cheese.

For a fireside breakfast, lunch or dinner, the Paso Robles Inn’s Steakhouse setting is romantic.

Produce grows all year in central California. In the summer and spring, they deliver the produce direct from the fields to the restaurant the same day, every day. Seafood arrives six days a week. That is fresh.

Most of our food is organic or sustainable. We grow our produce on the property. Most of the food is organic with no pesticides. We buy the most natural products from local farms and meat without hormones or steroids.

PAUL JUMA- Hair Colorist & Extensions Specialist

Before trying a new “look”, make sure it is the right “look” for you. Many hairstyles, hair colors and make-up techniques will not work on everyone.

Paul Juma, hair colorist and certified hair lock stylist and extension specialist, explained, “I use the latest products that help in improving the application of extensions. Now extensions are applied faster and easier. With the latest products, I do not have to apply glue or bonding material on the hair.

First the client’s hair color is matched with the extensions before they are applied. The process is finished with a custom haircut and style.

The hair looks thicker and fuller while it keeps growing.

Compared with the traditional method of applying hair extensions, this method is safer and does not damage the hair. The Hair Locs extensions system is becoming “the favorite” method for any hair.”

As a color specialist, Paul blends the hair colors and combines different shades to become more coppery or more vibrant. The colors are going to stand out.

Another beauty expert, Carolyn Allen, make-up artist, knows the best techniques for all clients. Whether you want to keep in style with wide-open eyes or longer eyelashes, she knows the latest looks.

The “nude look” refers to wearing make-up with natural tones for a healthy glow.  Shimmering metallic eyelids stand out during an evening of dining and nightlife.

When you meet someone, your face is the first thing the person sees. You should try a make-up session or lesson. How can you look good and create the best image? Carolyn studies each client to customize his or her looks.

Ask Carolyn how you can change your beauty regimen with the seasons. Just as you buy different fabrics for your clothes during the summer in contrast to winter other changes should be made.

Juan Mejia, hairstylist and extensions specialist, has an international flair with hair. He is familiar with styles from the United States and Mexico.

Juan suggests a consultation before you make decisions. Discuss the type of hairstyle you prefer, your lifestyle and bring photographs of any style you like.

If you are too busy to spend time on your hairstyle, a quick, short style may be best. For the client who wants a dramatic “look”, Juan is ready with suggestions.

Juan’s extensive repertoire of styles along with his creativity provides the perfect basis for your hairstyle. He even accents his own hair with a distinctive touch of red. Juan has tips for protecting hair during the winter.

Paul Juma, Carolyn Allen and Juan Mejia are at the Cristophe Salon of Beverly Hills in the MGM Hotel. Cristophe is at 3799 Las Vegas Boulevard South, in Las Vegas. For information, call (702)-891-3339.

The Cristophe Salon of Beverly Hills at the MGM Grand Hotel, in Las Vegas, keeps up with the latest products and techniques for their staff.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has announced that the company is seeking candidates for its Apprenticeship Programme. The successful applicants will join the programme in August 2014, working alongside skilled craftspeople in leather, wood, paint, engineering and assembly roles.

The company’s Apprenticeship Programme was successfully launched in 2006 and provides people aged 16-24 with the opportunity to train with the Goodwood-based manufacturer of the world’s best-selling super-luxury cars. The apprenticeships last for up to four years and combine on-the-job training with studying for nationally recognised qualifications. The programme has been designed in conjunction with the Learning Skills Council (LSC) and several local colleges.

The selection process is designed to guarantee recruitment of the very best candidates who could have the opportunity to further grow with the company following a successful apprenticeship period. The programme was also recently extended to the business areas and the first business apprentices recruited.

Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars said, “I am delighted to announce the start of recruitment for this year’s apprenticeship programme. Our new apprentices will join a British luxury manufacturing success story and will be ideally positioned to take advantage of the unique opportunities available at Rolls-Royce.”

In addition to the Apprenticeship Programme, more than 60 men and women were employed with the company in 2013 on industrial placements ranging in duration from six to 12 months; further positions are likely to be available next year. The company also runs a successful graduate programme, with new positions made available each year.

Potential candidates for all Rolls-Royce Motor Cars positions should apply online at:
