Ferraro’s Italian Restaurant offers a special 25% discount off of their “oh so tempting” MEZZANOTTE late-night menu to fulfill your desire for fine Italian dining.

With 9 different Insalate e Antipasti selections, try the Carpaccio di Manzo: The arugula salad becomes a meal with the thinly sliced prime sirloin, tasty shaved Parmigiano cheese and for a touch of class truffle oil.

Their delightful combinations include Fritto Misto: A great mix of tastes with fried baby squid, smelt, shrimp, fennel, and the added spice of Calabrese pepper and tangy mustard sauce.

If you are really hungry, the Carne e Pesce entrees await you! The Osso Buco, braised veal shank, cooked for hours in wine reduction until the meat becomes exceptionally tender served with farro.

You rarely see rabbit on many menus, the Conigllo Brasato, farm raised braised rabbit is prepared with soft polenta and mushrooms.

Another interesting combination Pollo Parmigiana, bringing chicken and meat together for the Chicken Parmigiana-style served with rigatoni meat sauce.

There’s 7 interesting Pastas e Risotto: The Pappardelle Mimmo stands out with lobster, scallops, a style of long-wide pasta, asparagus, butter, sage, and the delicacy of eating a truffle.

Pizza can be ordered in many styles and flavors. The Brasata pizza surprises guests with shredded short ribs, mushrooms, the “heat” of Calabrese pepper, and smoked Provola cheese.

It’s worth waiting until 11 pm for the late-night MEXXANOTTE menu, guests receive 25% off the entire meal and would have plenty of time to enjoy the food until 2 am!

I was impressed with Ferraro’s Restaurants’ late-night dining MEZZANOTTE Small Plate four course tasting dinner for $25 with appetizer, pasta, main course and dessert. (Late-night discounts do not apply on this dinner.)

As an extra late-night treat, guests are encouraged to pair their favorite wines with each course for 50 percent off (excluding red-marked collections). In addition, specialty drinks and a la carte dishes on the Mezzanotte menu are all offered at 25 percent off the regular price.

The Ferraro family members devote themselves to ensuring each guest has a memorable experience, whether for lunch, dinner, late-night or private parties and events. Named best Italian restaurant by Open Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Ferraro’s is located at 4480 Paradise Road    (across the street from the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas).  For reservations, call (702) 364-5300.

THE MOB MUSEUM’S INTERACTIVE EXHIBITS PROVIDE FUN AND INFORMATION

February 18th, 2018 • by Sandy Zimmerman

(Photos by VOX Communications)

I was invited to The Mob Museum, a museum that specializes in the history and understanding of the impact of 0rganized Crime in the past and present.

One of their new exhibits includes Organized Crime Today, explaining how organized crime has evolved throughout the years. This is a comprehensive multi-faceted study featuring organized crime in depth, a look into the stories, the famous early mobsters dating back to Al Capone, Bugsy Siegel, John Gotti and others, in the days of the speakeasies, mob-run casinos and when the Mafia became involved in crime.

This extensive research data reaches throughout the United States and even around the world. You will see so much here at the Mob Museum, it may be necessary to come back again another day to finish your experience. The museum explains, “From trafficking in exotic species to engaging in cyber-scams, crime syndicates routinely cross both physical and digital borders to execute their elaborate schemes. Using a 17-foot-wide interactive touch wall, discover where organized crime operates today and how law enforcement is fighting back.”

With interactive exhibits, you can enjoy films, displays, photographs, digital experiences, one-of-a-kind mob and law enforcement artifacts, case files and more. They have also added two new experiential spaces which include the Use of Force Training Experience and Crime Lab, which join the Museum’s already robust experiential platform, focusing on methods employed by law enforcement to apprehend and prosecute criminals and their organizations.

Visit the Crime lab and learn how they catch criminals, don’t miss the Basement- Prohibition Era to enter a speakeasy. Crime Lab Experience and Use of Force Training Experience are timed entries. RSVP’s required- Use of Force Training Experience.

You can arrange for groups or parties to enjoy areas of the museum.

Some special areas you should see:

Organized Crime Today: Visit the Organized Crime Today exhibit at The Mob Museum where you’ll see the new face of organized crime

They called it The Beer Wars. It was Chicago, during Prohibition. Well-meaning citizen’s groups had lobbied for law enforcement.

The Mob Museum considers the museum a bold and authentic view of organized crime. They want you to explore the real stories and actual events of Mob history through interactive exhibits and one-of-a-kind Mob and law enforcement artifacts found inside their restored 1933 former courthouse and post office building located 300 Stewart Avenue, Downtown Las Vegas, just minutes from Fremont Street. Parking is limited for a nominal fee. Open: 9 am – 9 pm.

“Bruce Merrin Celebrates the Sixth Anniversary of his Sterling Club”
(Photos by Sandy Zimmerman)

Bruce Merrin, known nationally for his distinguished career as President/Owner of the Celebrity Speakers & Entertainment Bureau, Inc., marked the sixth anniversary of his Sterling Club (social and business networking) at the Heartland Mansion.

Congratulations to Merrin for six years of bringing all the most prestigious worldwide meeting planners, as well as famous sports stars, entertainers, best-selling authors, newsmakers, politicians and distinguished guest speakers to the Sterling Club each month to assist members.

Merrin explained, “Of course we also book leading business authorities, motivational and inspirational speakers. This month we booked actor William Shatner and Dr. Wayne Dyers for big events in Florida.”

The beautiful Russian songstress Irina Nero headlined Bruce Merrin’s party and I had a chance to interview Irina before her show.

SZ:  “What type of music do you sing?”

IRINA: “I grew up listening to Frank Sinatra and other American singers. American music and movies are popular in Russia, I like soul, gospel and old style music but love jazz a lot.”

SZ: “I liked your personal interpretations and additions to each song during the rehearsal.
How long have you been singing?”

IRINA: “Since before I could walk!”

SZ: “Las Vegas is the best place for you with all of the entertainment here.”

IRINA: “I sing in the Italian American Club, Tuscany, and other beautiful restaurants in Las Vegas. If you want to spend an amazing dinner come to see me on Saturdays at the Mayakovski Russian Restaurant. I will sing for you all the beautiful Russian, American and songs from Armenia and other countries.”

SZ: “You must have a great repertoire!”

IRINA: “When I came to America, I only knew 12 songs, now I sing 70.”

SZ: “You probably know whatever song they want to hear.”

IRINA: “I want to tell my appreciation to Bruce Merrin for the anniversary of his Sterling Club. I wish Bruce good health, great mood, amazing happiness and what else, a huge success. Bruce is doing an amazing job working every day with a lot of energy and gets a lot of results.”

Merrin’s first major PR client was Michael Landon. He explained, “When I booked Michael on the Johnny Carson Show, we were both invited to Johnny’s home in Malibu for dinner. Johnny and Michael gave me the idea to begin my Celebrity Speakers & Entertainment company. They were my first two clients. We have booked every major President of the U.S. since Pres Reagan. We are currently booking the BEYOND THE SECRET presenters from the new movie/DVD for worldwide engagements.”

Ferraro’s Small Plate Tasting Menu-DISCOUNTS–

February 18th, 2018 • by Sandy Zimmerman

(Food Photos by Sandy Zimmerman-Restaurant interior/exterior photos by Vox Solid Communications )
I was invited to Ferraro’s Restaurant & Wine Bar for their Late-Night Mezzanotte Four-Course Menu” tasting event, from 11 pm-2 am.

Each dish is special at Ferraro’s as they prepare Italian cuisine with traditional ingredients. All of these dishes sound so tempting, you will be very happy with your choice.

The appetizers include choice of one- Quail, Burrata Cheese, Caesar Salad or Soup.
Ferraro’s serves Quail Lollypop prepared with Guanciale spicy black fig marmalade and sweet potato sauce (Guanciale is cured unsmoked Italian pig cheeks, a specialty from Central Italy).
Try the Burrata –the Queen of Italian Cheeses. Its soft, creamy Apulia Cheese combines beautifully with the roasted carrots and almonds-sorrel pesto. (Burrata began being hand-made 100 years ago in the Puglia region of Southern Italy.

The Zuppa, Pasta e Fagioll Soup means pasta and beans. This soup is served in a mini-pot.

It is difficult to choose just one and then there’s the Classic Caesar Salad, an excitingly different interpretation of a famous salad.

Choose one of the two Pastas- Fettuccine or Spaghetti.

Ferraro’s Fettuccine is served with fresh Pomodoro sauce. (Fettuccine means “little ribbons” in Italian, a type of pasta dating back to Roman and Tuscan cuisine.)

Their Spaghetti offers the combinations of Calabrese pepper and garlic spices with olive oil and Parmigiano Reggiano, called the king of cheese.

For the main course, select one- 5 ounce chicken breast or 5 ounce Atlantic Salmon.

The seared Chicken Breast includes mushrooms, pee wee potatoes and is topped with veal sauce. Always original, Ferraro’s pee wee potatoes are a surprise.

Salmone, grilled Atlantic Salmon topped with caper-lemon sauce and spinach.

Dessert, the famous Italian Tiramisu-Cannoli.

What a meal! Ferraro’s prix-fixe, late-night “Small Plate Tasting Menu”, $25 per person, is a great way for couples, families, business associates and parties to taste some of these culinary delights.

In addition to the new late-night prix-fixe 4 course’s menu, you may want to try Farraro’s main MEZZANOTTE late-night menu available from 11 pm until 2 am with a 25% discount off your total check.

As an extra late-night treat, guests are encouraged to pair their favorite wines with each course for 50 percent off (excluding red-marked collections). In addition, specialty drinks and a la carte dishes on the late-night Mezzanotte menu are all offered at 25% off the regular price.
