The Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra is Still Touring

Nancy Knorr, featured vocalist with the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, explained, "When music or anything else is good, it is like cream rising to the top.

Big band music has survived because the public still loves the songs.

We play the big hits and tell the stories about the events during those early days.

Our music was written especially for a big band.

With our orchestra, you see a big band the way it was.

These are the original arrangements written during the big band era.

They created the sound for Sinatra and the wonderful singers of those days.

We are not a 'tribute to' band, we are the band.

Many bands reduce their size to lower the expenses, but the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra did not.

 We are a big band.

The Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra has a 16 piece orchestra counting trombonist/ orchestra director Bill Tole and me.

People hear a song and remember where they were when that song was popular.

One woman came up to us and said, 'I love your show, it made me cry.'

We usually close a show with 'Sentimental Journey'.

The songs brought back the times when couples met.

The men went to war and the women stayed home waiting for them to come home.

They kindle memories of the special times in their lives and these times are repeated today.

The same events that happened in the '40s, people have been going to war throughout the years.

It brings us all back to a happy feeling.

They dance together holding each other, not like today.

We are finding that younger people are gravitating to this music. Maybe "Dancing with the Stars" television program is helping.

Everybody swings back to the good times.

The interest in ballroom dancing started again because everybody wants to dance that way and dress up.

They are cutting-the-rug on the dance floor.

We keep the integrity, class and style of the way it was during the '40s".

Nancy Knorr has performed with the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra for more than 20 years.

She owns the trademark to the orchestra and keeps the band out there for the public.

The Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra dinner show will appear Saturday, June 29, at 6 p.m., in Las Vegas.
