“The Classic Mint Brings Back Las Vegas’ Past”

Yes, the Mint’s name sounds familiar to those who remember the Mint Hotel and Casino downtown on Fremont Street. (See photo of the old Mint Casino & Hotel of the past.)
Mint Tavern Partner, Todd Worz, nightlife mogul, felt, “We wanted to pay tribute to some of the older downtown hotels as we are their biggest downtown fans.
The Mint Tavern creates a place located on the strip where people feel they were part of the community. Even if you are a visitor we welcome you like family. As exciting city as Las Vegas, sometimes people grow and forget where they came from and my partner
and I just wanted to have a little reminder here.”
SZ: “Is the Mint Tavern different?”
Worz explained: “The Mint Tavern pales in size in comparison, the signage is similar and my Partner Jonathan Fine, Fine Entertainment,
and I wanted to bring back a little of that glory. The Mint Tavern is different yet recognizable.
There is a little color change to our sign, but our sign is recognizable. People who notice the sign, some who worked or family
worked at the Mint, stop in and it brings back all these memories they freely share them. That’s one of the more rewarding things to me of this project is to hear all these stories. This year is the 50th anniversary of the Mint 400 which is the world’s largest off-road race.
We arrange a variety of entertainment which is always changing from week to week. One of the staples here at the Mint
is our Swing Dancing classes every Friday night from 7:30-9:00 p.m., with open dancing until 3 a.m. afterwards.”
SZ: “This is a great way to have fun, learn how to dance and meet people.”
Worz: “They dance the old Swing and come in that attire, the ladies wear skirts.
I have curated all of the art which has to do with good luck and fortune and invite everyone to explore the room and figure out which
symbols refer to what.
We have a bar with 15 poker slot machines and are proud to say we have the loosest dollar machines, more liberal than the
SLS and others. Our pizza program is starting next week with a variety of individual-style pizzas.  There’s also a signature cocktail list where
I also incorporated some fun history tid-bits of Las Vegas.”
SZ: “The Mint Tavern is different, it is not just another bar.”

Worz: “We wanted to honor the age of the building and tie in to the historical significance of the Golden Steer Steakhouse, the oldest steakhouse in Las Vegas, we both are in the same shopping area.”
The Mint Tavern is located at 332 W. Sahara. For information, call 702-776-3313.
