The five stars Le Meridien Chiang Rai Resort has one of the most beautiful, most luxurious, tropical settings on the banks of the Mae Kok River. This is the perfect setting for visiting the exotic region of northern Thailand. At night it was so romantic to walk across the bridge and along the lighted paths.

Justin Malcolm, the General Manager, explained. "We drew inspiration from the early architecture and interior design dating back seven centuries to the Lanna period the time when Chiang Rai was discovered. Of course Thai accents were added and we focused on the environment. From the cushions in the guest rooms, the carpet on the floor, the head of the bed, and design of all of the rooms they are all culturally significant to this part of the world.

With only 159 rooms spread over five buildings, guests can really enjoy our 10.5 acre property. I am most proud that every room has a private balcony and every bathroom a view from the bathtub to the bedroom. The shower is large enough for two or a family might squeeze in, they are that big!"

Le Meridien Resort's Unlock Art program allows guests complimentary access to Rai Mae Fah Luang, a nearby cultural centre where guests may explore the history and culture of Northern Thailand.

They welcome children and the resort provides services customized to match children's expectations and needs. The resort's Penguin Club provides recreation activities for children ages 12 and younger.

At the resort, guests can enjoy the beauty of nature while only minutes from Chiang Rai and an hour to the Golden Triangle of Laos, Myanmar (Burma) and Thailand borders. Visitors can join the special Golden Triangle tours for a day in three countries.

There is so much to see. Known for their arts and culture, the experiences in Chiang Rai are so unique you will never forget your visit.

Justin feels, "The best tour is to take Le Meridian's own long tail boat from our private jetty up to the Hill Tribe's villages from the river side. Its a wonderful, wonderful experience. If you haven't seen Chiang Rai by river, you haven't seen Chiang Rai at all!"

Le Meridien provides scheduled free shuttle service to selected locations in Chiang Rai city or surrounding areas

Don't miss visiting the KAREN and AKHA Hill Tribe's villages, this is a chance to meet the people still living in the ways of their ancient ancestors.

Many restaurants around the area offer complimentary Siamese dancing entertainment during the evening.

The King's mother has been involved in a major project around Chaing Rai to transform the hills from growing opium to gardens. They have accomplished so much to help their people.

Discover the excitement of northern Thailand at the Le Meridien Chiang Rai Resort! The hotel offers a state-of-art fitness center, two bars, two restaurants,
