Change the Way You Eat- the J. J. VIRGIN DIET- 7 Foods that Cause Food Intolerance- Drop 7 Foods to Lose 7 Pounds in 7 Days-

April 1st, 2013 • by Sandy Zimmerman

Pasta-Bad Foods

Milk-BAD FOODS

BAD FOODS

Peanuts-BAD FOODS

Eggs- BAD FOODS

Many people try one diet after another. There are so many diets but which one will really help you lose weight?

J. J. Virgin has found food intolerance is the real cause of weight gain. The seven foods most likely to cause food intolerance (or high-FI foods) are components of traditional “healthy” weight-loss programs: Gluten, Soy, Dairy, Eggs, Corn, Peanuts, Sugar and Artificial Sweeteners.

This is another theory contradictory to the traditionally accepted theories. You don’t have to count calories anymore with J. J. Virgin’s 21 day diet to reset your metabolism.

J. J. Virgin, CNS, CHFS, nutrition and fitness expert, feels, “Your body is a chemistry lab. Symptoms of corn sensitivities are similar to other food intolerance reactions including rashes and hives, migraines, joint pain, mood disorders, temporary depression, insomnia, eczema, fatigue, joint pain, hyper-activity in children.”

J. J. is a fan of grass-fed beef. She feels that Grass-fed beef is harder to find and more expensive than corn-fed beef. But the health value of Grass-fed beef is very important as it is lower in total fat, higher in vitamin E, vitamin B thiamin and riboflavin, calcium, magnesium and potassium. Grass-fed beef is also 2-3 times higher in anti-inflammatory omega-3s, lower in calories and leaner.

There are some very interesting food facts in J. J.’s diet plan, eg., dairy is bad for your bones. The Nurses’ Health Study showed those people who consumed the highest amount of milk had the highest risk of bone fractures.

Many people will be unhappy to know popcorn is not a healthy snack because it is made from damaged fats and it is high-glycemic which makes your blood sugar spike. Popcorn is a trigger food which makes you crave for more salt, starch and fat. Microwave popcorn may have toxins in the bag liners.

The Virgin Diet is divided into a three-cycle plan including elimination, reintroduction, and the Virgin Diet for life. Learning which foods cause reactions is very important.

J. J. Virgin has compiled her diet plan into a book- The Virgin Diet, drop 7 foods to lose 7 pounds in just 7 days. For more information, please see J. J. Virgin’s website: www.thevirgindiet.com

Thai Cuisine from 4 Regions

“Thai Cuisine from 4 Regions”

By Sandy Zimmerman

Crying Tiger

You have the opportunity to taste some of the finest Thai cuisine from four different regions-

North, Northeast, Central, and Southern Thailand.

It is like a culinary trip through Thailand but it is right here in Las Vegas at the Thai Grill.

I toured Thailand twice and found all of the different styles of cuisine intriguing.

Their spices really bring out the sauces and add zest to the dishes.

It was great being able to review the Thai Grill’s tasty food bringing memories of

the exciting restaurants in Thailand.

After dining in Thailand, I know the real Thai cuisine and can honestly say,

This is really authentic!”

The owners of the

Thai Grill,

Wayne and Nattanuch

Prasertong

were both

born in

Thailand.

Wayne is from Bangkok

and

Nattanuch from the north, in Chiang Mai.

Chef Nattanuch has created some of the most delicious dishes with the magic touch

of a woman who loves to cook.

She learned from her mother, a famous chef and restaurant owner in Chaing Mai,

Thailand, bringing all of the secret recipes to Las Vegas.

With a seven page menu, Wayne says, “If you come into our restaurant and pick a

different item on the menu every day, you would probably finish in EIGHT

MONTHS!

Hot Pot to Share

When I was ready to review the restaurant’ food, Chef Nattanuch said, “Tell me what you

prefer and I will do it any way you want.”

This was not just for me but for every guest who enters their restaurant!

Depending on your health or diet, she prepares everything herself.

I decided to try the Crying Tiger steak and was thrilled with my choice.

Her Crying Tiger appetizer is an ancient Thai dish of sirloin steak grilled with

Thai spices and only an unbelievable $6.99!

Chef Nattanuch marinates the meat overnight and allows it to soak through.

The sirloin steak was grilled with mild spices but I did not have the hot chile sauce.

She added thick slices of steak on top of a salad with an interesting twist of sliced

apples, lemon grass, and mango.

Striptease-The Show

“SHOW REVIEW: Striptease- The Show”

By Sandy Zimmerman

Packed with a breathtaking display of primal movements,

Striptease The Show, presents the art of striptease the way it was

meant to be seen.

Just let your senses reel as you are part of the fantasy!

These four gorgeous ladies- Aspen Reign, Tali De’Mar, Taya Parker,

and Jenny Romas, each have their own unique styles and original

choreographed numbers to thrill audiences.

They performed with the finesse and grace of divas.

Striptease is an ancient art which has grown through the ages.

For the first time in one show, you will see provocative numbers

from several striptease genres of the different styles of the 20’s,

30’s, 40’s, and today.

This is not like any striptease show you have ever seen because

there are four headliners instead of just one and they each are

exceptionally talented in the art of stripping.

There are no comedians, no specialty acts, only striptease!

Hosted by Taya Parker, winner of VH1’s Brett Michaels “Rock of

Love” and 2009 Penthouse Pet of the year, she portrays a Roman

Goddess arriving in a chariot to dance with the only man in the

show.

You may have seen Jenny Romas on “America’s Got Talent”,

season four, when her act jumped up to the top 10.

In Striptease the Show, Jenny’s Jail scene was very emotional.

Later she danced around a pole then climbed up to the top and

spun around.

Penn & Teller Are Amazing!

November 13th, 2010 • by Sandy Zimmerman

SHOW REVIEW: “Penn and Teller Are Amazing!”

By Sandy Zimmerman

Most magic acts guard their secrets but not Penn and Teller.

Before the show began, the audience was invited to the stage to

sign their names on a list which would be used on the show.

This became an opportunity for each person to examine the

large open box on the stage.

Some people looked inside while others even sat in the box.

After everyone saw the box was really empty,

the show began with Teller suddenly climbing out of the box!

Penn and Teller

are the perfect

comedic magic

duo because

they are

opposites

in their

appearance,

personality and style.

It is amusing just to watch these two men perform.

Penn’s tall, large statue is a striking contrast to Teller’s short,

smaller body.

They complement each other.

With so many surprises during the show, you will soon realize

Penn and Teller are not like any of the other magicians.

Known as the “Bad Boys of Magic”, they are dedicated to

unlocking the secrets of magic for the public.

After performing each slight-of-hand trick, Penn immediately

demonstrated the mystery behind how the trick was done by

turning around and repeating the trick again from a differen

t angle.

Even the simplest activity can be complex.

Penn explains, “You need to know the basic principles of magic.

The answer is misdirection, secretly exchanging one object for

another.

Magicians give the impression they are holding an object but

their hand is really empty.

They move the object to where it is needed.”

Not only do they expose the tricks but Penn feels, “All ESP, all

psychic events, all mind readers, all supernatural events are

bull ….!”

Many psychics and magicians use plants, people in the audience,

but we do not do that.”

During one clever “escape” illusion, Teller’s hands and feet were

tied then he climbed into a large trash bag which Penn filled with

Helium.

When the bag flew up into the air everyone in the audience

wondered “What happened to Teller?”

Penn performed a dangerous nail gun illusion with split second

accuracy.

Four Freshmen: What a wonderfully Nostalgic Show!

August 7th, 2010 • by Sandy Zimmerman

SHOW REVIEWS: “Four Freshmen:  What a wonderfully Nostalgic Show!”

(Photos shot by Sandy Zimmerman during the show)

By Sandy Zimmerman

This was the first time I had the opportunity to see the Four Freshmen in my 29 years of reviewing Las Vegas shows.  I can understand why the Four Freshmen are one of the few musical groups to last 60 years!

Although the faces

have changed, the

carefree mood and

classic songs

remain.

The Four Freshmen’s song choice was perfect with the upbeat

“Something’s gotta’ Give”, and continued with more of their

songs from the 50’s and 60’s.

The group looked back at “Graduation Day”, a happy day yet

significant in defining the beginning of becoming adults.

They quipped about the song “It’s Alright with me”, “Although

the other woman is

perfect and you have the

wrong face, it’s

alright with me.  You will

do.  Do you want to go out

with me?”

Most of the songs were

romantic about love and

feelings-

“You Made me Love You”, “Guilty of Loving You”, “You stepped

out of a dream,“  “Little Girl Blue”, “Day by Day”, “It’s a Blue

World”, “Polka dots and Moonbeams,” then mixed these

numbers with “Give me the simple Life”, “Easy street”, “Route

66”, and many more.  With songs like these and their

exceptional talent, the Four Freshmen will be singing and

pleasing audiences for a long time to come.  Called a free

improvisational style, the group’s creative interpretations are

worth seeing!

The Four

Freshmen’s

talent was recognized

by some of the

jazz greats Dizzy Gillespie, Stan Kenton, and Woody Herman.

It was Stan Kenton who brought the group to the attention of

Capitol Records.  Their first hit single was “It’s a Blue World,”

released in 1952.  Later the vocal harmony group gained

popularity and have continued their touring all of these years.

Of course the Four Freshmen have won awards and counted

many hits.  Even recently in the 21th century the Four

Freshmen were named “Vocal Group of the Year” by Downbeat

Magazine’s readers, in 2000.   Continuing in 2001, Mosaic

Records released a multi-CD of their complete 1950’s

recordings.  Today the Four Freshmen consist of Bob Ferreira,

Brian Eichenberger, Curtis Calderon, and Vince Johnson.

Besides their happy audiences, the Four Freshmen have their

own official fan club “The Four Freshmen Society”, since 1992,

with over 2,500 members.  The members of the club filled the

audience that evening and were waiting for the special Meet and

Greet after the show.
